Romney-Ryan: The Mormon-Catholic ticket
Jeff Greenfield appears to be the first to note this factoid:
Ryan only 2nd Catholic ever on GOP national ticket (Wm. Miller, ’64, only other one).
That Ryan’s faith came up pretty much as an afterthought is significant in itself.
BONUS: Romneys’s “Be Not Afraid” ad.

I love the idea of Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney as the Republican candidates. I have no doubt that Mitt and company can do what we all pray must be done, that is, fix our economy. These two men and the others Mitt would put in leadership positions may very well be best ever in modern times. However, he has to get elected first and as of today I wonder if that is going to happen. The reason is the Romney campaign is putting us to sleep. Paul Ryan’s speech this morning was pathetic. It was boring and predictable. Where was the fire, the passion and the leadership that brings people up out of the chairs?
What happened to the Romney campaign we saw during the later stages of the primary race? They didn’t set the stage on fire but at least they fought a good fight. When was the last time you saw Mitt take the President on over his lies, distortions or the behavior of his campaign staff? Barack Obama is a liar, a cheat and that doesn’t even begin to take into account that he is totally inept and doesn’t know even the basics of how the economy works. I am not saying Romney needs to do the dirty work. He has surrogates who can that. But at some point these things need to be talked about. Republicans should be out there showing Obama up for the bum he is. If his surrogates are not on the tube on every channel beating Obama up for his bad behavior then they are not trying hard enough. When they are invited on news programs they ought to be pounding the table, interrupting people and in, short raising hell. If the other side is not cowering in fear by the end of the program then they are not getting the job done. The Obama campaign should be faced with having to beg people to go up against the Romney surrogates. Romney’s people should be leaning across the table pointing their fingers in the other people’s faces. Thew watch word ought to be “invade their space”.
