The news release you linked to did not have any actual information about any pro-abortion statement or action Palin had done. It just seems to me that any group that claims to be a pro-life spokesman, and then condemns Sarah Palin, has to explain what you have to do to be acceptable in their eyes, beyond (a) intentionally giving birth to your own Down Syndrome baby rather than have an abortion, and (b) encouraging your daughter to give birth to the daughter's out-of-wedlock baby rather than have an abortion. It is one thing for a man to say this should be the course of action for a mother, but it is quite another for a woman who is going to bear the burdens of birth to step forward and pick them up. Sarah Palin would not be my first choice for president, but attacking her over her views on abortion would seem to be the position of a PRO-abortion group!

While we are on that topic, those who attack Mitt Romney for being "pro-abortion" are also barking up the wrong tree. There is every reason to believe that Romney, as a faithful Mormon, and a Mormon bishop and president over several congregations in Boston, supports the official CJCLDS Church position, that members of that church should NOT have an abortion unless there are specific extenuating circumstances, such as rape, incest, and a threat to the life and long term health of the mother, and then ONLY if the parents have considered that choice prayerfully. The church position opposes abortion for any other reason, including out-of-wedlock pregnancy or suspected birth defects, and it actively promotes marriage between capable unmarried parents and open adoption facilitated by the church.

I know there are some groups who claim that believing that any abortion is ever justified in extreme circumstances is immoral, and is "pro-abortion", but I personally doubt that most Christians, of any church, believe that. Similarly, I don't think most Christians think there is any justification for a mother who is on the point of giving birth at full term to have her child killed, rather than given away for adoption, but the most extreme "pro-choice" groups inisist that infanticide must be allowed. Both extremes are unacceptable to the vast Majority of Americans. The issue needs to be returned to legislation and voting, where the majority can speak, and taken away from the courts, where the extremes so often control the agenda.
