The video speaks for itself.  Professor Barber gives the background on his blog.  And he links to another article on the same subject.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I am extremely honored to stand side by side with our brothers and sisters of Judeo-Christian faiths, as we unite to defend the fundamental unit of society, which is marriage between one man and one woman.

I imagine this will not be the last time that we will stand together in defense of the religious freedoms afforded to us in this country. I feel blessed to live at a time when we, as children of God, agreeing to disagree on certain doctrinal issues, can stand united on those things that are so essential to the beliefs that we all hold in common.

Neal A. Maxwell (a former leader in the Mormon church) said the following about what we all face as believers:

“We are now entering a time of incredible ironies. Let us cite but one of these ironies which is yet in its subtle stages: We will see a maximum, if indirect, effort made to establish irreligion as the state religion. It is actually a new form of paganism which uses the carefully preserved and cultivated freedoms of western civilization to shrink freedom, even as it rejects the value essence of our rich Judeo-Christian heritage.”

We will stand together with good people of all faiths as we defend truth. As Maxwell also said, “It may well be that as our time comes to “suffer shame for his name” (Acts 5:41), some of that special stress will grow out of that portion of discipleship which involves citizenship.” We knew the persecution would come, and we are so thankful for you our friends.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you! I watched your video on youtube.com and it made me weep. I stand strong in my conviction that we all did as our Heavenly Father would have wanted. I know we may all suffer persecution for doing so, but this will not weaken my resolve to stand for God. I am so please to be united with those of other faiths to do what is right.

I am a member of the LDS faith. I believe we have far more points in common than we do differences. In the end, the biggest commonality is we are all endeavoring to follow God’s plan. We each have points of difference and points of commonality in our view of the plan, but, we are all striving to follow our Heavenly Father and live righteous lives.

I am grateful for those who are coming forward to support us and stand with us during these contentious times. We have always respected the rights of others to follow their own conscience… one of our Articles of Faith states, “We claim the priviledge of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men the same prviledge, let them worship how, where or what they may.”

We, like you, took a stand to protect marriage, as we saw it as a protection of our religious freedoms as well. We want to continue to worship the Almighty God according to our conscience, and allow others the same.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this video!
