it was Evangelical conservatives in their blind, label-following view, that trotted off after a loser like Huckabee and blew it up.

I understand what John was saying but just blithely falling in behind Huckabee is, as I see it, a symptom and not the problem. Mitt talked about freedom needing religion and religion needing freedom and to deny religion is to deny freedom. Denying freedom is the problem and that is done by denying Mitt Romney's religion as having legitimate status. Notice I didn't anything about anyone's theology. Surely no one believes we all should hold the same religious views and that there should be no disagreements between us. But we should all expect that everyone's religious beliefs should be given equal weight in all other areas. But Huckabee damaged the conservative movement by doing just that. His religious ideology drove a wedge between the party and its conservative wing so that only the weakest candidate could survive. It may have been just a political maneuver to him but I think the damage was done by de-legitimatizing Romney because of his religious beliefs. The effect was to deny Mitt Romney the freedom to expect religious equality.

This nation is at a crossroad, with the last statement, Joe Biden could not have said it better. I'm afraid to test the mettle of Obama within the first 6 month if elected we cannot afford, the peace loving brothers and sisters throughout the world cannot afford this either.
We are taking the fight to them so we do not have to on our soil and liberating many peaceful loving people in the process.
We must understand without National Security all other issues are mute such as, Health care, tax reform, houses or cars because we will be dead.
The Lord has bless this nation with an abundance of resources, we need to be able to impliment all forms to become Energy Independent. How about keeping some of that $700 Billion figure home and away from terrorist, both foreign and domestic.
