When I hear the vitriol of a Robert Jeffress or Bill Keller, I often wonder how they can honestly, with a straight face, call themselves emissaries of God. If you have hate in your heart--if you can't even befriend someone who isn't of your faith--it says a great deal more about your character than that of an "infidel". I actually feel sorry for people like that. They have access to the scriptures, but because of their pride, prejudice, and disillusionment of other faiths, they become, ironically anathema to the teachings of Christ.
Can a man condemn a Mormon, Jew, Muslim, et al., and think that they are really true disciples? John 13:35--35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.; Matthew 5:22--But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment...; Mark 11:26--But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.; Matthew 25:44-46--Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
There are, I don't know, about a million other verses that make my point.
