The pot says something about the kettle.

Religion and Ethics Newsweekly really brief discussion about Obama’s Evangelical meet.

RCP Blog thinks he has an uphill pull. To say the least.

A Mormon politician who has clearly not learned the lessons of the Romney campaign.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

I read Senator Smith’s statement and have NO idea what he was saying. How is he connecting gay marriage with the persecution of the Mormon pioneers? The February 1846 departure from Illinois across the Mississippi River was six years before the official announcement of plural marriage as a n official policy and practice of the LDS Church.

There were lots of other distinctives about Mormonism, especially belief in modern prophets and their gathering together to build cities and potentially dominate local elections with lots of immigrants from other lands–in those days, Britain was considered much more foreign than it is today, after the legacy of US alliance with the UK during WW II dominated over the enmity that had been engendered by the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, when they burned the White House.

Romney also occasionally mentioned the religious persecution of the early Mormons, including in his famous speech at the Bush Library. Smith just needed to be a bit more articulate so we could understand what he is getting at. Even as a lifelong Mormon, I have no idea what his point was.
