One can understand thatsome Evangelical Christians would have a reason for wanting someone who "thinks like them" as the person in the White House. The real question is, What's in it for the rest of the Republican Party? The whole point in running for the nomination of the Republican Party, and running in the primary elections of the Republicanm Party, is to offer a candidate who serves the interests of the Party and represents the Party, not just one faction within the Party--or a faction that is not even loyal to the Party.

If Evangelical Christians want to advance a candidate to the American public who represents the quintessential Evangelical, who does not address the concerns of other Republicans, and excludes anyone who is not an evangelical, the honest way to do it is to create their own party (the "Christian Republicans"?--compare to the Christian Democrats in Germany) and have their own party elections that only offer votes to candidates who are Evangelicals. Don't act like you are considering other candidates. A Christian party should above all things be honest about its objectives. People in categories that can't get elected should know up front that they are second class members of this Party and decide not to invest their money and time in it.

Then the rest of Republicans can have their own primary elections and convention and consider people who are willing to appeal to a broad range of voters who have concerns beyond electing someone of their own brand of religion.

On the other hand, if Evangelicals want to be part of a winning political coalition, they have to be willing to allow all voters in the Party, and all candidates, to be considered on an equal basis. That is the compromise that is the essence of political parties in America. Instead of the many, small narrow interest parties of many other countries, which usually have parliamentary systems, we have usually had two large parties that encompass broad coalitions of interests.

So, the roosters are now demanding that the fox wasn't the right candidate to guard the henhouse but that it is now the wolf in a Big Bird costume...while we stand listening in astonishment we look down with large eyes to see the wolf's tail wagging through the hole at the bottom of the zipper as he's congratulated.

Jimmy Dobson, Weyrich, Mikey Farris and the rest were all instructed in how to achieve our goals within the alternate world of our government yet, in their tunnel vision of a crusade they obviously will only hear or see the echo of their demands...I know the good book teaches us lessons to avoid this type of buffoonery, why aren't they aware of them??

Well, since the lock is now secured on the henhouse for four whole years we better find ourselves a few wise roosters instead of these Cuckoo's.
