The Absurdity of Mormon-Focused Reporting: Missionaries Show Up at A Romney Rally!
Oh, the horror!
Jonathan Martin has taken religion-focused political reporting to an absurd level. He actually took the time to report this:
For the second time in three days, a pair of Mormon missionaries came out for a Mitt Romney rally in Florida.
Apparently a couple of those young men in white shirts and ties dropped by a Romney rally to watch. Will the Republic survive?
Martin apparently decided this was so important that he should ask Romney about it:
Asked if he was comfortable with the presence of missionaries at his campaign events, Romney curtly dismissed the question.
“This is America, I guess people can go wherever they’d like to go,” he said at a press conference earlier this evening in St. Petersburg. “I don’t have any comment on that.”
It is remarkable, as always, that Romney must be subjected to this utter nonsense. I wonder if any pastors showed up at Huckabee rallies? Or if a rabbi ever came to a Joe Lieberman rally? Would that be something to ask the candidates about?
Give us a break, Jonathan.

I guess since Jonathan was amazed that some people still have faith in a God, I must assume that Jonathan has no faith in anything or anyone. Amazing!!! Must be a slow news night.
A little bit about the Democrat primary, I was wondering is she pulling out her hair, must be someone else’s fault she lost so big.

Don’t sell Jonathan Martin short – he is good at sniffing out conspiracies. He should be as often as he found them.
OK OK. He hasn’t found any. But sure tries!!!

Jonathan must be a card carrying member of the “Far Right Wing Conspiracies” and a top Clinton Aid.

Since there are over 50,000 Mormon missionaries, and about a million campaign events in the current election process, it is inevitable that the two would be in the same place at some point.
Missionaries work hard, including gospel and language study from early in the morning to contacting and teaching people into the evenings, including on Sundays. Missionaries cannot date, smoke, drink alcohol, play video games, listen to iPods, ride motorcycles, go swimming, or most other things that American youths age 19-21 typically do. The only recreation they have is eating, an occasional volleyball game with other missionaries, and sight seeing (since most missionaries are assigned to cities away from home). Admittedly the sight seeing could be a lot more interesting in Japan, where I served my mission. What is there to see in Florida these days other than political rallies?
Both missionaries and politicians have booths down there in the Marketplace of Ideas. But it doesn’t sound like people at the rally were hitting up the missionaries for copies of the Book of Mormon. They all were just there to see the show.
