Just as I had given up on ever seeing a balanced post here again, and here one is. Thank you very much. I try to stay open minded when I read this blog. After all, perhaps out in California conservatives feel somehow under siege by liberals. And so you guys complain about the liberals who hate religion. I can understand that. But here in Oklahoma there aren't many liberals whining about religion. Instead there are conservatives whining about the fact that anyone disagrees with them about anything. And claiming that whoever is disagreeing with them is fighting God and going to Hell. So I am glad to see a post acknowledging the reality of politics here in the middle of the Bible Belt.

[...] Check it out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerpt Charles Krauthammer wrote a column yesterday that said everybody was dipping to deeply into the well of religiousity this election cycle. This campaign is knee-deep in religion, and it’s only going to get worse. I’d thought that the limits of professed public piety had already been achieved during the Republican CNN/YouTube debate when some squirrelly looking guy held up a Bible and asked, “Do you believe every word of this book?” — and not one candidate dared reply: None of your damn business [...]

Romney was speaking to his base, not the nation. Non-believers likely will be addressed after Romney gets nominated, if he does. This is poly-sci 101.
