Deep thoughts for an election where Jesus is likely to be claimed by every candidate.

The text of the speech I heard in Boston.  But the most important factor was the crowd's reaction.  Now, this was a partisan crowd in a bitterly poltical state, Romney's home state, but Romney had to give it twice for technical reasons and the crowd lost not an ounce of enthusiasm.  I did not hear the word "Mormon" uttered at all in that downtown Baptist church.

When combined with recent events (and reading this on the plane) I am beginning to think we will hear "The Question" far more as oppo work than a real religious divide.

EJ Dionne gets on more-or-less right.  I would not frame the issues the way he did, but his point that religion and politics need not be tightly linked is a great one.
