Today’s Reading List - August 9, 2006
Now they’re just reaching. The Corner and its readers seem to agree. Of course, this could go a long way to explaining how Massachusetts became Massachusetts - taking life waaaay too seriously. Lowell adds: This is the kind of thing that the news media will start watching for; if they do, before long Romney will be repeatedly described as “gaffe-prone,” or something similar. The MSM loves stuff like that– especially for Republicans. He’ll probably keep making jokes; the man is witty.
Speaking of The Corner - they coin “The Romney Effect.” Now, based on yesterday’s link concluding that health care was not a big issue with the Republican base - is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Speaking of coining phrases - genius, sheer genius.
Lowell raised Romney’s stable marriage as an asset last week. This blogger on the other hand comes close to stating the issue as a moral imperative for Romey’s election. I think stability in family is a strong sign of quality leadership, but let’s not forget that “Ronaldus Maximus” (with apologies to Rush) was divorced. Lowell: Romney’s strong and long-term is simply an attractive and admirable aspect of the candidate. He (and his supporters) need to avoid seeming self-righteous about it.
