Bayh continues to beef up - curioser and curioser. Meanwhile some old hands are beating the Hillary drums. But with Biden in, Look out!
Well, Obama and E.J Dionne have created quite the dust-up on religion and politics haven’t they? Captain Ed comments. Howard Kurtz tracks the reaction. Get Religion has more (HT: SmartChristian) Bottom line, religion is not, and should not be a political issue. Religion speaks to the character of a candidate and to his/her stance of some issues, but it is not, of itself an issue. When it becoems one, this kind of stuff is what happens.
Speaking of which, this peice is interesting. There are some interesting observations and thoughts in between the usual liberal tripe and religious misunderstanding.
Hotline likes Romney’s last six months.
Wishful thinking. No way W is saying anything about a successor this early in the game, he is just doing his job.
Oooo, sarcasm.
The Thinklings are right - this is hypocritical. If religion and politics are never to cross paths, they should have kept their mouths shut. But then they do cross paths, don’t they? That’s why establishment was in the Constitution and separation was not.
Doing the numbers. The very pro-Guliani RCP blog keeps being just that. Meanwhile TKS on NRO looks at a piece on a Bloomberg independent run and concludes
First, gut reaction: If Bloomberg runs, the GOP wins in 2008. His instincts are too inherently nanny-state and big government to appeal to conservatives; he’ll split the Democratic/liberal/not conservative vote with the Democratic nominee.
Interesting quote:
“A Morman Republican from Massachusetts?†Pitney asked. “With a combination like that, he’s got to be good.â€
Wondering if the a Mormon would have a unique perspective on this mess?
